For many years the WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN has screened the weekly film cycle World Wide Cinema together with various curators.

  • In 2015, the "WdK Short Film Award" was presented for the first time, which awarded short films on the subject of diversity in Berlin.
  • Since 2010, Berlin schoolchildren have been producing video letters about their neighbourhood as part of the children's film project "Kiez der Kinder" (transl. Children’s Hood). Several award-winning films were produced during the children's film festivals.
  • Setting thematic priorities, several small film festivals were created, such as the "Filmfestival religiöser & spiritueller Kulturen" (Film Festival of Religious & Spiritual Cultures).
  • The "creole music film festival" (2016 / 2017)
  • Perennial cooperation projects with Mayadin al Tahrir e.V. and the cross-university research programme "The Middle East in Europe / Europe in the Middle East", have resulted in the film cycle "Beyond Spring", focussed on current film productions from the Arabic-speaking world between Morocco and Iraq.
  • The "Transformations - Trans Film Festival", held for the first time in November 2016, aims to increase the visibility of trans-people by making trans-bodies and trans-narratives visible and therefore promoting gender diversity.
  • Regularly scheduled film related workshops take place in the house: Screenplay development, editing, directing and film acting are taught in small groups, and films developed in these workshops are then premiered. Many communities present films at the WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN in relation to events taking place.

The WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN is funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Europe.
